About Deaf Ministry
Nsawam road church of Christ - Deaf ministry is a ministry of the deaf, for the deaf and by the deaf. Though it comprises of deaf and hearing brethren, the deaf are the majority. Sam Lannier Williams is the minister in charge, supervised by Elder Barima Gyamfi Akumaning elder in charge.
Samuel Ohene Acheampong, and Philip Quaye are the deacons. Samuel Ohene Acheampong is a deaf person and the first deaf person to be ordained a deacon in the churches of Christ in Ghana and even Africa.
Interpreters: Bismark Francis Owoo, Kwame Anniah Asampanah, Rita Serwornu, Rita Ama Mensah, Gladys Amissah, Charles Sarfo, Fred Baidoo, Dorcas Bentsil, Emelia Clottey, Christiana Dzapathah, Eric Amebleh among others have dedicated themselves to serving the deaf ministry and beyond.
Eric Kwaku Sapey,a deaf brother is currently at the Heritage Bible College learning and going through a training to become a full time minister in the ministry.
Godwin Amenumey, Godfred Amponsah Baffoe, Prince Buronyah, Charles Darko, David Nelson, Patricia Baffoe, Monica Dowuta, Janet Baidoo, Doris Sakyi are all deaf members who play various leadership roles in the ministry .
Our membership is over 200, though a large number who have now been relocated around Kasoa area now worship with the Kasoa Accra Road branch. Some has joined the nearby ministry like Maccharthy Hills, Pokuase-Ayawaso and Odorkor.
We supervised Akim Oda, Akwatia, Somanya, Akosombo, Juapong, Odorkor, Maccharthy, Kasoa, Pokuase, Lebanon, Tema C.2 ,Sebrepor deaf ministries and give guidance to other ministries.
